Lawrence O’Donnell SLAMS NYC Police Brutality!  

Fuck the Police (especially the NYPD as the tales of their brutality know no end; they are the new LAPD). Until they want to prove they are worth our trust. The idea of being a police officer appeals to me and sometimes I seriously consider it, especially in this economy. Then I remember how they act and what they actually stand for and that idea gets shucked away. I am not against individual officers, who very well may be nice people and I’ve met quite a few that have been nothing but pleasant but, the institution has to be destroyed and reshaped for the next American century. The ranks purged, the training heavily modified, and trust reinvested. I say this as someone with no negative personal experience with Police. I say this as someone who has seen these videos and born witness to the stories of my friends.

In all likelihood, the color of my skin and the fact that I am not poor means I will most likely never interact with the Police, and that’s what keeps most of America silent.
